Final Fantasy VII (original)

February 24, 2024 - Reading time: ~1 minute - Category: game library project

With all the hype around FF7 Rebirth's release, I got in the mode to play the original game. I've never played it before, but I've heard nothing but good thing. While I'm playing the PS4 version of the game, it's clearly a 20 year old game with a slight facelift.

The graphics are blurry and the models are ridiculous. The dialogue, so far, is cheesy. The battle interface is clunky and feels like it runs at sub-30fps. All that said, the game definitely has a certain charm to it. I really like the prerendered backgrounds, and the music is fantastic.

I think time and innovation in the genre has taken some of the magic away from the OG FF7. I think I'll be better served watching a story video on this one and just playing Remake.

Verdict: Uninstall

My biggest project is my Game Library Project. I have a ton of games collected throughout the years, and have barely played any of them. Check out the linked post to learn more about the project, and click here to be taken to the category page where you can see all my posts for the project.
