FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage

March 9, 2024 - Reading time: ~1 minute - Category: game library project

The Flatout series was one of many arcade racers popular in the early-to-mid 2000s, and I have somewhat fond memories of them. The series was focused more on destruction, like Burnout, than pure racing. The second game's PC port, Ultimate Carnage, got an update on PC making it work better on modern systems, so I decided to revisit.

It's still fun - the bones of going fast and crashing into other cars will always be fun. And for a game originally from 2008, it looks fantastic. It controls well, and the racing and destruction feels good. That said, it's yet another arcade racer. There were tons of these games released in this era, and honestly, Burnout 3 and Paradise do pretty much everything this game does, but better. Not much reason to return to this one if you've got access to those.

Verdict: Uninstall

My biggest project is my Game Library Project. I have a ton of games collected throughout the years, and have barely played any of them. Check out the linked post to learn more about the project, and click here to be taken to the category page where you can see all my posts for the project.
