Dragon Ball Volume 3 review

March 17, 2024 - Reading time: ~1 minute - Category: reviews

Another great entry in the series. This was my favorite volume so far, as Goku and Krillin finally begin their training and the back half is filled with the fight scenes that made the series famous.

The artwork in this volume is fantastic. I'm reading the colored version, and the use of color and sense of motion in the panels looks great. There's a good amount of comedy, which as ever is a bit hit or miss, but this volume has quite a bit more action than the previous 2 and benefits from it.

I think I'm slowly becoming a manga convert after being anime-only for the longest time. The speed these volumes can be read (a little over an hour per volume, and the original Dragon Ball run is only 16 volumes) compared to 153 episodes of anime that can admittedly be a bit of a slog is hard to beat, and reading the manga gets closer to the "true" storyline.
