Thoughts on the Star Ocean Second Story R Demo

October 8, 2023 - Reading time: ~1 minute - Category: thoughts

Star Ocean is a series that's been on my radar for a long time. I own all of the games that are available on PS4, and just snagged The Divine Force for $10. They've got middling to good reviews, and seem up my alley with their settings and gameplay. The second game was until now the only one not to get a port to modern systems. That's finally being rectified with this remaster - and a demo has been released. I decided to give it a try, figuring if I like it I'll pick the full game up on sale down the line after I've played a few others in the series.I really like what I've played so far. I'm about 45 minutes in and have only had one combat encounter, but the graphics are incredible and the storyline seems fun if a little cliched. I can tell I'd enjoy the full game just from the little I've played. I wish more games got this treatment - where is that Dragon Quest 3 remaster? I have no real problem going back and playing games on older systems, but it's nice to play the classics on modern systems with Trophies and all the modern conveniences we've been spoiled with.

My biggest project is my Game Library Project. I have a ton of games collected throughout the years, and have barely played any of them. Check out the linked post to learn more about the project, and click here to be taken to the category page where you can see all my posts for the project.
