I grew up playing Age of Empires quite a bit, and I watched my brother play a ton of AOE3, but I never played the spin-off Age of Mythology. It was on sale for super cheap so I decided to rectify that.
I've only played the tutorial and a few of the first campaign's missions, and the bones of AOE are definitely here. You still have villagers gathering resources, buildings to build units, etc. The twist here is that you have Hero and Mythical units and have access to extremely powerful God powers, based on your chose factions. It adds a fun dynamic to the gameplay.
This is the sort of game that I'll keep installed for a long time and play the campaigns very slowly. I'm probably never going to dip into the multiplayer, but in the past I've enjoyed doing random skirmishes against the AI.
Verdict: Endless
