Guild Wars: Reforged

December 7, 2025 - Reading time: ~1 minute - Category: game library project

I've played a bit of Guild Wars 2, and it appeals to me because of its focus on story, the large amount of content, the fact that nothing is time-gated, and the lack of a subscription fee. I've always had a passing interest in Guild Wars 1, and with this Reforged QOL update I gave it a try.

I'm not sure how I feel about it so far. It's definitely got that mid-2000s MMO feel, with dated graphics and some clunky mechanics. The added controller support is nice, and works pretty well as far as I can tell so far. The gameplay isn't exactly grabbing me though, and I don't know if the lore and story are strong enough to keep me interested. I'm starting to come around to the fact that I like the idea of MMOs far more than I actually like playing them. I'll have to give this one another try.

Verdict: Timewaster
