Project Cars 2

November 26, 2025 - Reading time: 2 minutes - Category: game library project

Project Cars 2 is a game that's been in my Steam library for years and years, and I've never really had any inclination to play it. Today I had a burst of inspiration to break out my Quest 2 VR headset, and while looking through my library I noticed this game, so gave it a shot.

For a game from 2017, it looks great. The VR is really well-implemented too, I didn't have a single issue, which with how annoying VR is to use is rare. The problem is I'm awful at the racing. This game definitely leans more sim than arcade, and it pretty clearly wants you to race with a wheel. Which I don't have. I'm doing ok with a gamepad, but I'm about a second behind the CPU on average difficulty, and I don't have the endurance in VR to grind it out yet.

We'll see if I keep playing this one. VR is still just a bit of a novelty, and kind of a pain to use, so I'm not sure how much I'll play this or my other VR games. I'm also removing Project Cars 1 form my unplayed list, as this one seems to be a straight upgrade and there's no story implications or anything.

Verdict: Timewaster
