Shape of Dreams

December 20, 2025 - Reading time: ~1 minute - Category: game library project

Shape of Dreams is a roguelike action hack and slash game. There are a bunch of different characters with different playstyles, like ranged attacker, melee, mage, etc. Every character starts with a few basic abilities, and as you move through the maps you unlock more, and can mix and match them along with "Gems" that you can socket in to alter them.

I played a couple runs and made it up to the second major boss fight. It's pretty fun! I've only played the first character, who is a ranged gunman with fire abilities. Both runs ended up with pretty different builds, which was cool. It seems like there's a lot of variety in the abilities that drop, and I hope that continues.

Like with all these roguelike games, you accrue a currency that you can use for permanent upgrades between runs, which make it easier to get further and further with each run.

Nice game. Sometimes I bounce off these games because the difficulty ramps up too quickly, but this one doesn't seem too bad.

Verdict: Timewaster
