Tape to Tape

October 13, 2025 - Reading time: ~1 minute - Category: game library project

Tape to Tape has been on my wishlist for ages. I've been looking for fun arcade hockey game ever since playing 3 on 3 NHL Arcade way back on the PS3. The official NHL games are fine, but sometimes you just want a quick arcade game.

Tape to Tape seems to mostly fill that want for me. The core game is a roguelike, where you draft a team and progress through several "acts", earning currency that you use to unlock permanent upgrades on future runs. I've played a few games and have had quite a bit of fun. It's pretty difficult to score, but doesn't feel unfair. Games are very quick. My one little nitpick thus far is that bodychecking opponents is kind of difficult. I need to get better at judging the angle.

The devs recently announced a major overhaul to the campaign mode, currently in beta. I think I'm going to wait till that's out to really dive in, but this one seems headed for the "always keep installed" list.

Verdict: Endless
