Thoughts on the SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide Demo

October 19, 2025 - Reading time: ~1 minute - Category: thoughts

Spongebob games have had a bit of a resurgence lately, with the remaster of Battle for Bikini Bottom and the decently well-reviewed Cosmic Shake. I played a good amount of BFBB, and Cosmic Shake is in my library as it was given out as a PS Plus game at some point. There's a third game in the works, with a demo out in the current Steam Next Fest.

This demo lets you play the first hour or so of the game, and it's pretty fun. It plays like BFBB, but the animations feel quite a bit smoother. I really like the seamless switching between Spongebob and Patrick, and their abilities and movement complement each other really well.

This isn't going to be a day one buy for me, because these Spongebob games always end up dirt cheap or given out for free down the line, but it's shaping up to be a good 3D platformer.
