This is another excellent volume, and Berserk is quickly becoming my favorite manga. There is so much detail in the panels, while never really feeling too busy. It's great stuff, and the story is gathering steam, characters are getting developed, and we're starting to see the beginnings of the plot threads that were established in the first couple volumes.
I liked the first couple volumes, but they definitely felt a a little disjointed and out of place compared to the Golden Age volumes. Part of me wishes the story had started with Guts and the Band of the Hawk, because I think I would've been more motivated to continue, but the more I read the more I understand that those early chapters establish the supernatural aspects of the story. Which makes the encounter with the monster Zodd make quite a bit more sense - we've already established that monsters, gods, demons, magic, etc. exist in-universe.
I'm really, really liking Berserk. I'm not one to binge on manga, I like to take my time, but I'll definitely be making this one a priority.
