Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987) review

November 27, 2025 - Reading time: ~1 minute - Category: reviews

I was browsing for good Thanksgiving movies, of which there are few, and came across Planes, Trains and Automobiles - a classic I've never seen.

I enjoyed it. Steve Martin is somehow only in his 40s in this movie. I swear that dude has been old forever. John Candy was very funny, great facial expressions. I don't know if I'd seen anything Candy's starred in before, but he was great here. Simple storyline, doesn't overstay its welcome, just a nice holiday "buddy travel" movie. Nice job using all their f-bombs in one scene too.
