Redline (2009) review

November 26, 2025 - Reading time: ~1 minute - Category: reviews

Redline is an absolutely beautiful movie - maybe the most visually stunning film I've ever seen. It's completely hand-drawn, a lost art, and every single frame is so stylized and such a visual treat that I couldn't look away for a second.

It's also, for me, just a "good" movie, not a great one. The storyline is dead simple, but maybe a bit too simple. The characters don't get a ton of development and the plot is paper thin. But it's such a visual masterpiece that I really don't care. Take the hour and a half and watch this movie if you like animation at all. I know I said just the other day that Your Name. is one of the most beautiful films ever, and it is, but Redline has such a striking style that I think it might beat it.
