I joined Facebook "late" - back in 2009. I had always been aware of this movie, but thought it was more of a biopic of Mark Zuckerberg, rather than a pretty funny, witty, and entertaining story of the founding and first year of Facebook.
Jesse Eisenberg is excellent as Zuckerberg: he's haughty and awkward and frustrating, he comes across much like the real Zuckerberg does, or at least how he did in Facebook's early years. I didn't know much about the founding of the company, besides the names of a few of the people involved, but everyone is played well, and the dialogue is snappy and quick and doesn't feel too much like "40 year old writing how he thinks 20 year olds talk" like you see sometimes.
The Social Network is also pretty funny, which I wasn't expecting. This is a good movie, evven if you don't know anything about Facebook. Technobable is kept to a minimum, and the focus is really on the human aspect of the business, which does it a great service.
It also makes me want to invent or create something. Maybe I should work on that game I've been thinking about for years.
