The extraction shooter genre is one that's gotten pretty popular in recent years, but it's not one I've ever really explored. ARC Raiders is the new kid on the block getting a ton of hype, so I gave the free playtest a shot ahead of the official release in a couple weeks.
I had fun with my few runs, especially in co-op, but I'm not sold on the concept. The loop is pretty simple, you load in with some gear, run around to try and loot more stuff, fighting both AI and human players, then try to "extract" before the time runs out. You get to keep everything you extract with, and can craft upgrades at your base, sell stuff, and so on. Then you dive in again and try for better and better loot.
I liked what I played, but I'm not sold on it keeping my attention enough for it to be worth the $40 entry fee. I know for this beta, there was only 1 map and a fraction of the loot of full release. But I'm just not sure the loop will stay fresh enough for me with no solid "goal". We'll see.
